The winter can be extremely harsh on us. The cold and wind easily dries out the skin, and when combined with the heating, it can be a real problem.
This week on Home Skincare Remedies, we are making a beautiful face mask. This mask will help you fight the effects of winter. Leaving you with softer, moisturised skin that feels wonderful.
Strawberries and Cream Winter Face Mask
It’s time to get moisturising the skin. These cold, bitter days can really dry the skin out, especially when you add using the heating to the mix. Dry skin can make us feel absolutely rubbish. It can be itchy, sore and might be visible, so can affect how we feel about ourselves.
Winter can be difficult for many of us at the best of times with the change in weather, longer nights and darker days. So, it is a good idea to tackle anything you see on the horizon that might have an effect on your mental health.
The Strawberries and Cream Face Mask is a winner when it comes to tackling dry skin!
The Benefits of Strawberries
Aside from being deeply nourishing and helping to moisturise the skin, locking in that moisture you might lose when out in the elements. Strawberries have a number of other benefits.
They contain salicylic acid which is fantastic for helping reduce those dark spots and even dealing with hyperpigmentation.
Strawberries are being used a lot more in skincare products, because they have properties that help tighten up those pores and reduce blemishes, as well as preventing them from occurring.
They are also great exfoliators, clearing away dead skin cells and leaving skin brighter and renewed.
The Benefits of Cream
Cream is an unlikely friend when thinking about skincare. However, it is brilliant when it comes to moisturising the skin. It can leave your face feeling softer and smoother too.
It is a great complimentary ingredient to strawberries, and we don’t just mean to eat! Since strawberries are fantastic moisturisers, cream work well with them in skincare products as it works to lock in that moisture. Keeping skin hydrated for much longer!
Surprisingly, cream can also benefit your skin when fighting the signs of aging. Reducing fine lines by infusing that moisture into the skins deeper layers.
Making the Mask
You will need:
- a handful of strawberries
- a tablespoon or two of double cream
- small amount of honey
Slice and mash the strawberries then mix with the cream. You are looking for a thick pasty consistency. This is where you can add some honey to help thicken the mix.
How to Apply Your Winter Mask
Once you have a lovely paste, apply the mask to your skin and leave for around 10-15 minutes. Wash gently with warm water and bask in the glow of soft, supple, moisturised skin!
We love this mask, not least of all because it smells and feels amazing. It is a great way to help use up the last of the strawberries or left over cream. Do let us know how you get on with it over on TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Facebook and Twitter. We were a bit worried about the strawberries staining our skin, but it washes off perfectly well!
