If you remember, last time we struggled to chose between the Banana and Avocado Renewing Face Mask and the Cucumber and Aloe Moisturising Face Mask. You can find the first one in our Home Skincare Remedies section, it’s divine. Today we will be making the Cucumber and Aloe Moisturising Face Mask.
The Face Mask
Face Masks are such an incredible self-care activity. There is a wondrous element to using them, almost childlike. Or perhaps it is the feeling you got as a child, being able to use skincare, that feeling of being grown up. Even thinking about using a face mask gives me that sensation.
Spending fifteen minutes out of your day to just relax and soak in the goodness of a face mask, is so good for your mental health. Being in the moment, destressing and having that me time is rewarding on many levels.
Today’s face mask made with cucumber and aloe will help enormously with that. Intensely refreshing and completely nourishing, this mask will leave your skin feeling amazing.
The Benefits of Cucumber on the Skin
If you have read our other articles that include cucumber, you’ll know that over here at The Wonderment HQ, we’re slightly obsessed. Cucumber is so versatile, is great for you whether you eat it, drink it or use it on your skin. Plus, and yes I will have mentioned this before, it smells fantastic.
Cucumber is a lovely ingredient when thinking about adding moisture to your skin. It helps to pack those molecules in and keep them in place for prolonged nourishment. It is well know for being refreshing, but can also help brighten your skin, fight premature ageing and irritation.
Cucumber also works fantastically with aloe, since it is beneficial when treating sunburn, healing the skin and reducing redness. They are little skincare buddies!
The Benefits of Aloe on the Skin
Aloe, much like cucumber is well known for the benefits it can have on the skin. Primarily it is renowned for it’s healing properties when treating burns on the skin. You could probably find aloe in most after sun products.
It soothes and cools the skin, leaving it calmer and refreshed. Reducing redness and heat, it can help when combating acne and other blemishes too.
Finally aloe again is incredibly moisturising, in fact I think we should upgrade Cumber and aloe from buddies to a power couple.

How to Make the Face Mask
You can remove the skin from the cucumber or leave it on, this is a personal choice. Dice and mash your cucumber, adding in the aloe gel and mix.
If using an Aloe Vera leaf, slice the leaf open and scoop out the gel inside. If you have any left over, you can store it in the fridge for up to one week.
Applying the Face Mask
Smooth this gorgeous mixture over your skin, lay back and relax. Leave it for around 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.
You could add a couple of cucumber slices to your eyes whilst you are soaking in the goodness, this will help them feel refreshed and less tired too. The cucumber can reduce puffy red eyes!
