Whilst you may not think drinks are important for your skincare, they really are. Particularly when talking about water. So, today we are going to be looking at why water is great for your skin and how to make a drink that will not only benefit your skin, but give you some extra pizazz in the morning!

What are the Benefits of Water for Skincare?

Water is fantastic for your body, not least of all for your skin. Aside from the obvious, quenching your thirst and keeping your body hydrated, it has plenty of benefits to keep skin looking lush.

Hydration is a key point, drinking provides much needed moisture that is distributed around the body, including to your skin. Helping to keep it nourished and reducing dry skin.

Water is also great for flushing out toxins and other nasties that build up over time, all of which can impact how your skin looks and feels. Drinking lots of water helps to keep skin clear and bright.

Even young skin can loose its elasticity, but as we age this becomes more of an issue. Water can be fantastic to help the skin remain more supple and retain some of that elasticity. This leads to younger, healthier looking skin.

Surprisingly, if you suffer with conditions relating to the skin, such as psoriasis and eczema, then drinking the daily recommended amount of water can help you combat them. The daily recommended amount is around 1.2 litres or 6-8 glass per day.

Making The Refreshagiser

We couldn’t think of a better name for this delectable drink, it is both refreshing and energising. It can help your brain focus and feel clearer, leading to better motivation and concentration. As well as helping your skin feel refreshed and brighter. However, it should be noted that to see the benefits of drinking more water (up to the recommended daily intake), you do need to give it a little time. While you’re waiting though, you can enjoy the refreshing, tasty Refreshagiser, (okay, sorry about the name)!

What You Need
  • A water bottle
  • Water (either tap, distilled or bottled water is fine)

How to Make it

It is super simple to get this drink put together and chilling in the fridge. We recommend making it the night before, perhaps having two bottles on hand so you can make a fresh bottle once the first is finished.

Cut up your cucumber and lemon into slices. You can use more of less of each ingredient if you want to.

Pour the water into your bottle, add the ingredients and refrigerate for a few hours.

That’s all there is to it. You can read more about the benefits of cucumber and lemon on your skin by checking out the previous Home Skincare Remedies series.
