It is that time again, time to add to your Buildable Skincare Routine. Today we are going to take a look at why night cream is a fantastic addition.
What are Night Creams?
Night creams are a must for your skincare routine. They work in conjunction with your body overnight to protect and regenerate your skin. So, while you sleep, your night cream sets to work helping to improve, enrich and nourish your skin.
What is the Benefit of Night Cream?
There are a number of benefits to adding a night cream, not least of all they feel luxurious. They tend to be quite thick and feel incredibly rich when applied to the skin. Leaving you with a fabulous sensation of opulence.
A night cream is extremely nourishing, working while you sleep to intensely moisturise your skin. This is fantastic when wanting a beautiful, hydrated glowing complexion. But, they do a lot more than just hydrate.
The skin suffers throughout the day, losing not just moisture, but nutrients and is open to the elements. This can cause damage, particularly on the face, which is rarely covered. When used in conjunction with the rest of your skincare routine, a night cream can have a dramatic affect on this.
Overnight the skin has a natural regenerative process, this is something a night cream is great for assisting. Repairing skin cells that have been damaged from being exposed to the elements, the creams help to reduce the signs of ageing.
They also work to calm the skin, soothe any redness or irritation that you might be suffering with. Meaning that when morning comes the skin is not only renewed, replenished and regenerated (to an extent), but also refreshed.
Which One to Choose
There are a multitude of night creams on the market and all of them have different benefits. Again, it is about finding the right one for your skin. Mostly it comes down to what your skin needs most, since they all work towards the same goals above. Some have added vitamins and minerals, others specific anti-ageing properties. It’s a personal choice.
I use Nivea Q10 Power Sleeping Melt In Mask and I adore it. When it is applied there is an instantaneous sensation of that luxury mentioned above. My skin feels immediately nourished, I can feel the moisture being absorbed into my skin. It is glorious. By morning my skin always feels refreshed, it has a bright clear complexion and feels smooth and soothed.
However, it is almost finished and I bought a new one to try next from Boots. Boots Q10 Anti-Ageing Night Cream, it is meant to firm and revitalise. So, although it is a night cream, it is quite different from my current choice. I needed to change it up a little, I am getting older and whilst I don’t have much in the way of lines and wrinkles, I thought I would see what effect it had on my skin.
